Tender Hand Linked Lightweight Cotton Socks Review

This piece is a part of our Great White Sock Review, which runs down all the different white cotton socks we could get our hands on.

Tender rarely makes things that fit the standard mold and these socks are no exception, however, different doesn’t mean better, which is unfortunately the case for their hand linked socks.

Fit

The Tender socks have an odd, just above the ankle height and are incredibly tight. Of all the socks I tried, these were the most difficult to put on, requiring immense effort to pull them over my heel. Once they were on, they were relatively constrictive around the arch of my foot and I was eager to get them off, which was another separate struggle.

Fabric

The terry loops on the inside of the sock did not alleviate the pressure caused by the fit. The interior was relatively poky and the material was quite thin, making it almost impressive how tight it clamped on to my feet.

Construction

I’ve encountered a decent amount of Tender product in the past and this was the weakest in terms of quality that I’ve seen. The socks arrived with a tag secured by an antiquated safety pin, which put a hole in the heel upon removal.

Conclusion

Much of Tender’s offerings feel like they’re a part of this cohesive, odd, steampunky kind of world. They have one of the strongest visions of any brand in our niche and it’s what makes a lot of their product so charming. These socks still feel like they’re a part of that world, so I have to give them credit there, but that world just has bad socks.
