MacKenzie in Winnipeg has been perfecting his Trail Cap from Archival Clothing for the past 6 years and I’m excited to see what happens next. I’m thinking it won’t be long before it fuses to his head.
Worn under his helmet while cycling during the spring and fall, over the course of their union, MacKenzie has applied 2 coats of otter wax and the occasional smear of zinc-heavy sunscreen where the hat meets his head. After all, darker fabrics can get super hot when under direct sunlight.
In some ways serving as visual diary for MacKenzie’s day-to-day, this waxed up cap has picked up countless scratches which help make it one of a kind, each one adding even more character. Then there is the overall worn in shape that I was talking about earlier which in addition to creating the perfect fit, yields some epic creasing. Bonus points for the hardware starting to oxidize.
