Just when you thought you’ve seen all the unique Japanese fabrics that could be applied to a trucker, Momotaro‘s “Ochazome” Type II Sashiko Jacket enters the picture. This 100% cotton fabric is not only reinforced with sashiko stitching throughout for extra durability and texture, but it’s also garment-dyed with Japanese green tea- bet you’ve never seen that on a Levi’s Type II repro before. This ‘Ochazome’ dyeing technique results in an almost khaki tan-like color that will contrast with any of your bottoms- indigo, black, or even overdyed. Unless you have a green tea-dyed pair of pants… throwing this jacket on is an easy way to a good, interesting-looking outfit.
The jacket is garment dyed and washed, so don’t expect much shrink after washing, you can go ahead and order your true size. But keep in mind it’s a slim fit, so always, always check the size chart or reach out to Okayama Denim for some advice! Made in Japan by Momotaro’s skilled craftspeople, details include: Signature Type II pleated front, reinforced front yoke, dual button-closing chest pockets, two untraditional welted hip pockets for your hands to live in, adjustable tabs at the hips to dial the fit in, and Momotaro’s signature battle stripes painted on the arm.
