We Welcome Shockoe Atelier To The Heddels Shop

Shockoe Atelier, welcome to the Heddels Shop. Founded in 2012 out of the historic Shockoe Bottom neighborhood in downtown Richmond, the ‘Tobacco Leaf Brand’ is the blueprint for what a small heritage wear business should be – doing everything right when it comes to producing quality garments and accessories meant to get better with age.

From its tight core selection and painstaking attention to detail to its old-world values, out of all the raw denim brands out there, here’s one forging its own way forward and making a name for itself on its own terms. Terms like a lifetime guarantee of free repairs on all rips, tears, and blowouts and hand-making their denim in small batches right here in their Richmond workshop.

Leading the charge for Shockoe are 3 types of raw selvedge denim: the Stretch Selvedge, the Luray, and the Kojima.

The Stretch Selvedge is a 12.5 oz. fabric from Candiani Mills,  which is made from and indigo warp and natural weft (98% cotton 2% elastane). Available in the brand’s Standard and Slim fits — whether you are new to this crispy and heavy corner of the menswear world or just want a break from the break-in period — this option gives you the look and the fading potential without the resistance of a full cotton fabric.

For a fun variation on the theme of denim, the Luray Jacket and Trousers are made from indigo-dyed unsanforized denim which is then washed to create a uniquely soft and neppy texture. Perfect for when you don’t want to go full 5-pocket on ’em or just want to add some textural flair to a look.

Rounding us out is the Kojima available in a Standard, Slim, and Vintage cut. Made from raw 14.5 oz. selvedge denim from Collect Mills, it has an indigo warp and natural weft (100% cotton). When you think of classic denim, whether it be in an older leaning cut or a modern one, the Kojima fills any gaps you might have and serves as the perfect ambassador between you and the world of Japanese raw denim.
