Dr. Sole Introduces Heavy-Duty ‘Tumaz’ Sole

Dr. Sole has the cure for your aged outdoor boot that’s in need of a resole – the Tumaz Sole. Named for the native Taiwanese Formosan black bear, the Tumaz Sole was born out of a need to improve the modern hiking sole, while still remaining true to classic outdoor sole design. This proved a difficult task to pioneer for designers at Dr. Sole, but once chief designer Lin happened upon a nature documentary about the Formosan black bear, inspiration struck.

The sole is constructed from a heavy-duty durable rubber compound, one that’s made to hit the trails for years to come, all the while leaving your feet supported and protected. The design features the sole’s branding ‘Tumaz’ as tread, Formosan bear’s V-shaped patterning, an acorn-shaped divot (one of the Formosan bear’s favorite snacks), Dr. Sole branding, and plenty of lugs on the sole and heel to keep you moving uphill for a long, long time.

But opportunities to utilize the Tumaz don’t stop at hiker boots. Why not stick something more robust on your oxfords when they need a resole? I’d even like to see one of these beer-inspired soles slapped a moc-toe boot.
