Fade Friday – Unbranded UB121 (2 Years, 13 Washes, 1 Soak)

It’s hard to believe that in our weird nerdy corner of the menswear world — where jean prices can rival rent costs — there are pairs sub-$120 that can look this good after some good ol’ wear and tear. Unbranded is a brand that pops up in our fade inbox regularly to remind us that you don’t need to break the bank to get some seriously rewarding denim evolution.

This pair of Unbranded UB121 come to us from Anders over in Norway. Everything, from the jeans themselves to the submission photos of these faded jawns is just downright simple, humble, and to the point. Unbranded does exactly what its name suggests by making well-made raw denim jeans without any frills or branded, keeping costs lower, and letting the denim do the talking. Well, Anders wore these just over 2 years (washing them 13 times after their initial soak), faded the shit out of them through his work and as a trucker, and then slapped them on the floor to take some flicks for Fade Friday. Simple but brilliant.

The usual suspects are out in force, here, with some lovely dye-loss and creasing to the seat complemented by some high-reaching honeycombs that are clawing their way up to the seat. But the highlight for me is those shimmering stack fades, which almost look like a burning indigo flame on the back towards the hem.

Despite the enviable fades and patina, these Unbranded jeans have not needed any repairs, so Anders can keep on truckin’ until there is barely a shred of indigo left.
