Fade Friday – PRPS Barracuda 4 Panel (2 Years, 4 Washes, 1 Soak)

O’Neil in San Diego probably isn’t Shaq, but his PRPS Barracuda 4 panel jeans are definitely a slam dunk. Worn for 2 years, through 4 washes and 1 soak, O’Neil has clearly put them through some intense drills but their indigo drain is also their fading gain. From skateboarding and painting to golfing, these trusty jeans have been through it.

From the waves in the top block down to the honeycombing behind the knee, the creasing on this pair is nothing to scoff at. The most notable being the left back pocket activity and the quietly symmetrical knee lines. There is even some patina power thrown in by way of a leather patch on the back right pocket – if you wanted an estimate as to how another material would fair under the reign of O’Neil.

And as you might have deduced from the name, there are actually four types of denim represented on this pair which means the jeans benefit from contrasting aging. Not only is this increasingly noticeable when comparing grain and texture, it leads to a unique overall look that delivers quadruple the satisfaction.
