Fade Friday – Pure Blue Japan XX-013 18 Oz. (3 Years, 2 Washes, 1 Soak)

I’ve never seen a pair of faded PBJs in real life, but due to the amount we have flying into our Fade Friday inbox, I don’t think I need to. Why? ‘Cos every pair has the same amount of snowy, slubby wear — like this pair of XX-013 18 oz. coming from Yod over in Bangkok.

During my travels in Thailand, I saw so many dudes in raw selvedge denim, powering through the humid climate in heavyweight jeans in the name of fades. I’m thinking Yod is one of those guys. Summarising his wear routine by saying “Just wear when possible”, it’s clear that Yod has slapped these on whenever he can over the past 3 years. And it shows. In addition to the astounding faded PBJ texture that doesn’t get old (keep sendin’ them in, folks), we’ve got all of our favorite fade friends, here. Whiskers that span down the lap towards the knees, cavernous honeycombs that have remnants of darker indigo between their creases, and some chalky fades towards the hems.

As they would say over in Thailand —“Dī māk” ดีมาก (very good).
