It took a while for Iron Heart to put out an intentionally slubby denim, but it looks to be totally worth the wait. And despite having not seen any super faded examples of this fabric yet, I know the Iron Heart army is out there working on that, and it’s just a matter of time before a shredded piece of this 16 oz. slubby denim hits our fades inbox.
If we’re talking fades, though, my hot take is that there is no better piece of denim to fade than a Type III denim jacket, and Iron Heart has just rendered a Type III trucker jacket in the aforementioned 16 oz. slubby raw selvedge denim, woven in Japan with an uneven hand to provide a rich texture.
Yes, raw denim jeans are the cornerstone of our niche and fade fantastically, but for me, there is something about all of the fading potential provided by all of the nooks and crannies of the Type III silhouette. Knife pleats, dual chest pockets, and a chest bar mean there are loads of places for puckering to manifest and add untold levels of texture, whilst general dye-loss and fading can work their magic on the rest of the jacket. Iron Heart’s slubby-yet-soft
Details on Iron Heart’s gorgeous rendition of the iconic Type III silhouette include branded donut buttons and rivets, Works Inc. stitching on one of the chest pockets, a branded leather patch at the neckline, and handwarmer pockets. IH also modified the fit of this Type III to be longer in the body and arms than past silhouettes and finished the jacket with flat felled seams throughout for clean yet tough construction.
