Fade Day ‘n’ Night with Sage’s New Ranger Sun & Moon Jeans

If you’re serious about your fade portfolio, a pair of Sage Jeans is a must. Having curated the Fade Friday feature on Heddels for over 4 years, I can safely say that some of the most stunning fades we’ve seen in our inbox have come from the Indonesian denim brand, and can also vouch from personal experience that you get a lot of ‘combs for your cash when you invest in a pair of Sage jeans.

Sage’s latest release consists of two new editions of its classic Ranger jeans, this time taking inspiration from the sun and moon. Both the Ranger Sun and Ranger Moon are made of 19 oz. unsanforized deep indigo raw selvedge denim, milled in Sage’s own denim foundry from Japanese indigo-dyed yarns. Described as ‘rigid and hairy’ by Sage, it’s the deep indigo dye in this fabric that will lead to impressive high contrast fades. Both pairs are available in ‘slim’ and ‘slim straight’ cuts. The slim straight is exactly that, and the slim cut has more of a taper through the leg and a smaller hem opening.

The Sun and Moon editions are separated by their selvedge ID color — gold for the Sun, and silver for the Moon — but both pairs feature their own unique pocket flasher, single-felled inseam with gold thread, raised belt loops, twill pocket lining, and Sage’s iconic mountain arcuates. Finding this level of nuanced raw denim details for under $150 is a tall order, but Sage offers these up for just $64 ($115 shipped), meaning you can get to support a small denim maker, get your hands on some exclusive denim, and earn some stellar fades for a more than reasonable price.
