Kapital’s 14 Oz. Type 1 Is Surprisingly Tame

One does simply walk into the realm of wearing Kapital with the 14oz. Denim 1st JKT. While wearing Kapital is likely infinitely easier than walking into Mordor, it’s stupidly easy to wear their 14 oz. Type I jacket, rooted more in the end of Kapital’s love for American-heritage fashion than it is in their avant-garde side of things. It’s a straight-up reproduction, and we love that about it, a Levi’s Type I jacket doesn’t need modernizing.

The star of the show here is Kapital’s lovely vintage-style 14 oz. denim. It’s a nice and pliable 100% cotton raw denim that’s sure to grow way, way softer with some time spent worn on your torso, and after a couple of trips to the machine or tub.

These Japanese-made Type I Jackets are rinsed, so no need to fuss about the shrinkage, go with your true size. They’re all detailed with one flap pocket on the chest (that’s how you can remember they’re a Type I), pleated front design, reinforcing yoke on the front and back, back cinch to draw in the waist, and metal buttons throughout. I guess Kapital does have some chill.
