Get To the Gauze With Benzak’s ‘Sashiko Double Gauze’ Utility Shirt

When we start seeing gauze on our radar, it means that spring is not far away. One of the most cooling summer fabrics, gauze is a soft, lightweight fabric that provides great breathability through a loose weave.

Dutch imprint Benzak Denim Developers is injecting their indigo-drenched collection with some gauze with this Sashiko Double Gauze Utility Shirt. Part of a small production run, this piece is made in Portugal from a 100% cotton Japanese-woven double gauze fabric sourced by Collect Mills. The unique thing about this fabric, though, is that it is decorated and reinforced with sashiko stitching throughout, adding texture and strength to what was an already unique fabric.

This nuanced fabric is cut into BDD’s tried-and-tested Utility Shirt silhouette, forming a reliable button-down that can be donned solo in the warmer months or layered into a fit in the fall/winter. It comes with a bucket load of fade potential and neat Benzak details like a bullhorn embroidery toward the curved hem, chainstitch runoff at the gussets, and tonal navy buttons, to name but a few.

Available from Benzak Denim Developers for €197.52EUR (~$215USD).
