We covered this same ONI silhouette back in October ’22 when the blue-blooded Japanese denim label rendered its widest fit in 15 oz. “Demon Denim”. Whilst that was an exciting release, we’re sticklers for tried and tested classics, and ONI’s 20 oz. Secret Denim is certainly one of those.
Fans of wider-legged jeans can rarely enjoy a denim fabric with as much contemporary nuance as ONI’s Secret Denim. Typically wider silhouettes are reproductions of older Levi’s silhouettes, denim included. Secret Denim, in contrast, is a heavyweight fabric stuffed full of crazy slub, nep, and unrivaled rough texture. The beige-dyed weft yarns add an earthy edge to the fabric, which has an almost cobalt-blue undertone. It sounds like a cliche, but you really do need to hold this stuff in your hand to appreciate how crazy it is.
A classic straight-leg fit with a high rise, these limited jeans let the fabric do the talking whilst pairing with, well, anything you can throw at them. They’re made in Japan and finished with bar tack reinforcements, selvedge coin pocket, and a custom-branded deerskin wait patch.
