Drawstring Linen Pants – Five Plus One

Five Plus One is our weekly series of buyer’s guides. We pick a specific category and dig up five great options along with one that’s a little outside the norm.

I like techwear a much as the next person, but the comfort and breathability of natural fibers is just unparalleled. When the weather warms up, linen is king — and one of my favorite forms of linen clothing is drawstring pants. Not only are they a fun style to work into an outfit, but their lightweight nature and overall comfort make them a pleasure to wear all day. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite, drawstring linen pants that we hope help you to fill some gaps in your wardrobe for the coming spring and summer.

1) Uniqlo: Linen Blend Relaxed Pants

If you have never owned a pair of linen pants before and aren’t sure if you’ll actually wear them, or if you’re just too hard on your clothing to justify a high-end pair of linen trousers, Uniqlo‘s Linen Blend Relaxed pants might be for you.

Made from a 63%/35%/2% cotton/linen/spandex blend, these pants come in a wide range of colors and feature an elasticated waist with drawstring closure, tapered leg, and welted back pockets. Whilst they’re certainly a mass-produced, budget option, Uniqlo pieces tend to outlive those from other mall store brands and have a Japanese design flair that sets them apart.

Available for $50 from Uniqlo.

2) Frank Leder: Pleated Drawstring Linen Pants

Frank Leder makes some great garments, but they’ve really gone all out with their Pleated Drawstring Linen Pants. Made in Germany from 100% linen, these pants are styled with an elasticated was with drawstring closure, double pleats in front, and a single back pocket. They’re definitely on the pricey side of things, especially for something you likely won’t find yourself wearing every day, but if they look like your next pair of daily drivers then there’s really no better option on this list.

Available for $485 from No Man Walks Alone.

3) Alex Mill: Pull On Pant

Another excellent option if you’re looking for something fairly inexpensive is Alex Mill‘s Pull On Pant, which is made from a 57%/43% cotton/linen blend. It has an elasticated waist with belt loops and thick drawstrings, making it as versatile sizing-wise as one can hope for. Available in two, garment-dyed neutral colors, these pants are all going to look slightly different, which works well with the loose nature of these linen pants.

Available for $145 from Alex Mill.

4) Ichi Antiquites: Linen Drawstring Pants – Charcoal

While intended for womenswear, these pants’ one-size-fits-most sizing scheme combined with their elasticated waist, loose fit, and long, drawstring fastener ensures folks of all shapes and sizes will be able to wear them comfortably. While the 23.5″ inseam might be a dealbreaker for some, the 16.5″ rise means these pants ride a bit longer than you might think.

Plus One – Visvim: Hakama Pants Santome in Grey

Visvim‘s Hakama Pants Santome are a great example of what Visvim is all about. Made from a 66%/33%/1% wool/linen/cotton blend, these pants are definitely a bit heavier weight than the other linens on this list but they’re still absolute suiters for the warmer months. With their unique combination of venting, darting, pleats, and integrated belt, these pants are some of the most fun trousers we’ve seen in a while. They’re finished with water buffalo horn buttons on the fly, buttons, and waistband, and a price tag that would make Elon Musk shed a small tear.

Available for $985 from Blue Owl.
