Gitman Bros’ Seersucker Shirts Lead the Shirting Charge for Spring

I am an absolute sucker for the seer. It’s just one of those fabrics that you stare at longingly every time you open your wardrobe. You can look, but you can’t touch (until summer). Well, given we’re on the precipice of the warmer months, this feels like the perfect opportunity to talk about Gitman Bros’ Open Collar S/S seersucker shirts.

If you’re unfamiliar with seersucker, it’s essentially the fabric of summer. Seersucker, derived from the Persian phrase ‘shir-o-shakhar’, which roughly translates to “milk and sugar” for the alternating textures, is a thin, puckered, and breathable cotton fabric engineered for warm weather. The seersucker shirt has been an Ivy staple since Ivy fashion was a thing, which is well over half a century.

Expertly crafted in the U.S.A., since 1978, Gitman Bros’ short-sleeve seersucker shirts feature an open camp collar, two pockets on the front hem, which is pretty unusual to see on a non-workwear-style shirt, and two side vents, just in case you fancy dressing it up and tucking it in. The shirt comes in two colorways, both of which are extremely classic: a blue pinstripe and white.

Available for $198 from Blue in Green.
