Fade Friday – Shockoe Atelier Slim Kojima (2 Years, 3 Washes)

We weren’t shocked to see some jeans by Shockoe Atelier hit our fades inbox. The Virginia-based denim label is a staple in the U.S. raw denim scene, and this pair of heavily faded Slim Kojima shows you why.

Coming from Heddels reader, Jesse, this pair of faded Shockoes look like they’ve been shocked by a live wire surging with indigo-melting power. Jesse says the best of these fades have come from playing with the kids, long walks with the dog, bike-riding, and hiking on the weekends. Turns out wholesome shit leads to killer fades, too, folks.

Despite the grounded nature of those activities, these jeans have still needed some surgery. Wearing the jeans from 6AM til 10PM means Jesse has had to send these Shockoes in for repairs on the back rise, fly, front left pocket, outseam, and they’re just about to be sent in for a full crotch repair. What are those kids doin’ to ya, Jesse?

All of the fades-fam are out in spades, here. Whiskers, ‘combs, some epic dye loss on the left knee, subtle knee craters, and an epic old-school wallet fade on the rear pocket — the overall denim evolution is really somethin’ to behold. All that’s left for Jesse to do is to keep them from falling apart any further, perhaps by partially retiring these stunners and reserving them for weekend wear.
