Iron Heart’s Modified Type III is Wicked in Whipcord

We’re so spoiled for choice when it comes to Type III-inspired trucker jackets, which means that if one catches your attention, it’s probably doing something right. That’s what happened when we saw Iron Heart‘s Whipcord rendition of its Modified Type III.

If you’re not familiar with whipcord, it’s essentially the finest and tightest woven cord which is almost smooth to the touch. And whilst it doesn’t have as much visual texture as wider-waled corduroys at first, it ages like a fine wine. It’s also tough as nails, making it perfect for Iron Heart’s portfolio of hard-wearing, workwear-inspired garments that are perfect for the modern day.

The 12 oz. Whipcord Modified Type III jacket from Iron Heart comes with the classic hallmarks of this silhouette from the brand. It’s got the iconic Type III knife seam detailing down the front of the body, which has been elongated for modern tastes, as well as dual chest pockets, and dual handwarmer pockets at the waist.

The gorgeous olive whipcord is contrasted by wider-waled dark brown corduroy on the collar and inside the cuffs — another element of this jacket that will develop a patina over time. The jacket is constructed in Japan with tonal stitching and finished with branded hardware, tonal stitching, and a Works Inc. embroidered branding on the left chest pocket.

Available for $360 from Iron Heart.
