Tanuki’s Latest Type III is Made From a Special 100% Texan Cotton Selvedge Denim

Putting their spin on the eternal denim jacket is Tanuki with their latest Type III. Although made from 15 oz. unsanforized Japanese selvedge denim, the cotton itself is 100% Texas, pardner! Known for its slubby, uneven, and hairy texture, the low-tension weave consists of a warp that is pure indigo dyed while a dark beige weft evens it out.

From afar you might be looking at a typical iteration of the iconic design but as you approach, you start seeing nuances that you’ll online find in Tanuki land. For one thing instead of a more common orange or lemon yellow contrast stitch throughout, we’re working with electric blue ’round here. In addition to custom copper buttons, a custom veg-tanned deerskin leather patch, Japanese herringbone handwarmer pockets, it’s the ‘almost western‘ slanted chest pockets that really make this version an original. Closed out with internal pockets and some shoulder embroidery, ready, set, fade.
