Washed selvedge denim has exploded in the last few years and with some of the best Japanese denim producers getting in on the action, it shows no sign of slowing down. Despite being washed, these 15 oz. Ishikawa-dai washed selvedge 246 jeans from ONI Denim are still full of slub, and not one to snub.
This release is a washed version of ONI’s recently dropped Ishikawa-dai 5-pocket jeans, made in Japan from a 15 oz. pink selvedge denim spun on Ishikawa-dai — the oldest operating spinning machine in Japan that has been producing top quality denim for over 70 years since 1953. This veteran spinning machine spins at around a third of the speed of modern looms, which results in a finish reminiscent of hand spinning—the stress on the cotton is low giving it a natural look. The uneven texture of the fabric seems to waft and wave in front of your eyes, and the washing process has been conducted so masterfully that the denim looks as though it has aged naturally.
Finished with some classic ONI details like a horsehide waist patch, custom arcuates, original punched rivets — and their signature donut button—these are a great addition for any denimhead who wants some top-tier washed denim to rotate with their raws.
Available at ONI Denim for $240.
