If you’ve been into denim for so long that you obsess over the small details, the new Long John x APXPRESS Lucky Golden Button Necklace will be right up your alley.
Long John is an online magazine that was established in 2011 by denim enthusiast, Wouter Munnichs. In addition to writing about denim and vintage, Wouter has turned his hand to numerous collaborations over the years, with this necklace being the latest denim-centric accessory in the Long John ranks. Wouter enlisted the help of Davide Bionde, graphic designer and founder of the denim label, Hen’s Teeth.
The Lucky Golden Button is inspired by the donut buttons often seen on iconic five-pocket jeans from the early 1900s, but its golden raw brass color pays homage to the gold miners that flocked to California in the mid-1800s — a phenomenon that shaped the denim world as we know it.
Wouter and Bionde’s passion for denim is further evident through the laurel leaf design that features on the Lucky Button, a detail seen on influential and sought-after denim garb from WWII. The laurel leaf was globally known and recognized as a symbol of peace, protection, and victory. Laurel leaves were also commonly put under pillows at night to gain inspiration through dreams.
Made by global branding company, APXPRESS, the Lucky Golden Button threads through a chain reminiscent of dog tags, this release is a microcosm of everything we love about heritage style.
Available for $27 from Long John.
