Fortela Pays Homage to the US Army’s M-41 Field Jacket

Paying homage to the M-41 HBT field jacket worn by the US Army during WWII, this first pattern beauty from Fortela makes great use of a 12 oz. Italian herringbone twill (HBT) and a modern fit to achieve a look that is both retro and modern.

Made in the image of the original jacket, the Army Jacket features all the bells and whistles like gunmetal military star buttons, pleated patch pockets, and adjustable side cinches. And I haven’t even mentioned the single and double-needle construction, felled seams, and bartack reinforcements. Talk about the devil being in the details!

Made in Italy out of 100% sanforized cotton, Fortela has cut its Army Jacket in a regular, standardized fit that will slot into the modern wardrobe. It can be difficult to get the sizing right on vintage examples, so Fortela has made this easy all while producing an extremely high-quality rendition.

We can see it now—a pair of nicely broken-in jeans, a T-shirt or sweatshirt, and this on as the top layer. Maybe throw on some canvas sneakers or roughout boots and call it an outfit. When it comes to classic designs from yesteryear, just remember that trial and error has been done for you over the last 70+ years. All you have to do is put them on and go.
