Iron Heart Made the Hickory Type I You Never Knew You Needed

You probably know what a Type I is at this point. If not, it’s basically a pleated denim work jacket with one chest pocket and a back cinch made famous by Levi’s back in the early 20th century. It isn’t just highly coveted amongst collectors but a darling in the heritage wear scene.

This scene isn’t always the arena where you see significant deviations from that historically accurate design. Still, Iron Heart was in a mood and decided to turn the Type I on its head, featuring it in a clean 10.5 oz Narrow Hickory Stripe consisting of indigo-dyed warp yarns and a natural weft. Blending the jacket’s cowboy roots with the hickory’s railroad gravitation, here is a mash-up you never knew you needed until it was right before your eyes. Electing to elongate the body of the jacket, you get the iconic style with all the old-school detailing in a more palatable modern-day cut.

Available for $315 from Iron Heart.
