Heddels explains Wrangler

Wranglers were originally designed for rodeo use. In 1946, Blue Bell (one of the largest workwear manufacturers at the time) hired famous tailor Bernard “Rodeo Ben” Lichtenstein to create a line of jeans specifically for cowboys. Called the Wrangler 13MWZ (Men’s With Zipper), these jeans were tested for wear by professional rodeo cowboys Jim Shoulders, Bill Linderman, and Freckles Brown. In 1948, Jim Shoulders, World Champion Cowboy, became the official endorsee of Wranglers. When he died in 2007, it ended a 58-year old partnership with Wranglers, the longest sports licensing endorsement in history. Recently, Wrangler partnered with the American Quarter Horse Association to develop “The Ultimate Riding Jean”.
