Helm Your Patina Journey With The HELM Zind Boot

Texas-based bootmakers, HELM, have been in the biz of perfecting modern boots since 2009. They’re always on task, designing and producing handsome boots and sneakers, with durability and endurance at the heart of their service offer.

Now, I’m usually more of a sneaker guy, but I was happy to receive a pair of HELM’s Zind boots through my door, a boot that has a sleek silhouette with a shallow toe box made from the brand’s 415 boot last.

Red Wing kind of has the whole ‘entry-level boot’ thing wrapped, but they don’t make anything as sleek as this, and neither do Thorogood, Chippewa, or any of the other long-standing boot brands. So if you want something that will work with raw denim jeans and tailored trousers alike, these could be the boots for you.

The Zind Boot comes in a variety of leather options and colorways. They sent us a black pair, but there are a few other patina-ready options available (natural chromexcel, anyone?). They’re all detailed with; re-soleable (and element resistant) Blake rapid stitch construction, leather lining, aged brass eyelets, durable round waxed cotton laces, leather midsole, leather pull tab, metal shank, and HELM logo embossed on the bottom/cradle of the boot. But what makes HELM boots stand out is the layer of white rubber within the sole construction. Not only does this lead to elevated comfort and durability, it adds a charming white strike to the midsole that is unique to the brand.

Boots ship with an extra pair of laces and a cloth bag for storage, and are available for  $295 from HELM.
