Brown Cords – Five Plus One

Five Plus One is our weekly series of buyer’s guides. We pick a specific category and dig up five great options along with one that’s a little outside the norm.

Like many of you, I would wear my raws everyday if I could, but unfortunately that’s just not possible. And when I have to break from my norm there is no better way than with a pair of cords. That’s why we’ve put together a list of five of the best cords of the season, and one that’s just a lot of fun.

1) Kato: The Pen Slim Stretch 16w Corduroy – Brown

Kato’s The Pen Slim Stretch is a great option if you’re looking for a pair of cords that fits like a pair of jeans. They’re made in the USA with a classic, 5 pocket pattern and feature a 16 wale corduroy with a 97%/3% cotton/polyurethane blend for added stretch and comfort. And if they’re not quite what you’re looking for Kato has other colorways to meet your needs.

2) A Kind of Guise: Olive Corduroy Trousers

If you’re interested in a pair of corduroys that’s a bit more formal then A Kind of Guise has your covered with their Olive Corduroy Trousers. They’re made in Germany from a 100% cotton corduroy with slanted front pockets, gusseted back pockets, and flapped button waistband closure, making them an excellent replacement for any pair of slacks that are in your wardrobe.

3) Norse Projects: Aros Corduroy Espresso

Brown-Cords---Five-Plus-One-Aros-Corduroy-Espresso

Norse Projects’ Aros Corduroys are yet another great pair of slack-style corduroys. They’re made in Italy from an 8 wales corduroy, which is significantly wider than many of the corduroys on this list, and feature slanted hand pockets, gusseted back, and a wide pant leg. While these might be a bit more relaxed than many of the pants in your wardrobe, they’re a great option if they’re of a style you like.

Available for $222 from Lost and Found.

4) Wythe: Donegal Corduroy Five Pocket Trousers in Rolling Sand

With corduroy pants, it’s the quality of the fabric that really makes the pair. Wythe’s Donegal Corduroy Five Pocket Trousers are made from almost iridescent corduroy that’s woven from sustainable cotton and feature copper hardware to finish their look. Made in a straight fit with a wide wale, these cords are a great way to add a little variety to your pants rotation.

Available for $298 from Franklin & Poe.

5) Gramicci: Corduroy Loose Cargo Pant Mocha Beige

While most of the cords on this list fit pretty similarly to jeans or slacks, that doesn’t mean all cords are that way. Garmicci’s Corduroy Loose Cargo Pant are definitely on the casual side with their integrated belt, articulated knees, and large cargo pockets, but they’re a really fun pair if you’re mainly looking for some casual pants.

Available for $176 from Calculus.

Plus One – Bridge & Burn: The Miller Overall

Brown-Cords---Five-Plus-One-The-Miller-Overall

Bridge & Burns The Miller Overall might not 100% be pants per se, but they’re another great way to wear cords on your legs this autumn. With large hand pockets, patch back pockets, reinforced knees, and spandex stretch fabric, these are an awesome pair if you’re looking to add something fun to your wardrobe this fall. While I don’t expect anyone to replace all of their pants with a pair of overalls, I certainly think a lot of our wardrobes would mesh just fines with these great cords.

Available for $168 from Bridge & Burn.
