Though everyone takes to raw denim for their own reasons, one of the biggest drivers for taking the leap is the goal of obtaining high contrast, drool-worthy fades. dutil. denim‘s Fade February is a competition celebrating this very aspect of dungarees, which they hosted for the third year running last month at their Vancouver and Toronto locations. We were fortunate enough to join in on the annual, one-day event at their Vancouver outpost, as well chip in our two cents as part of the judging panel.
dutil.‘s location on Cordova Street, Vancouver; jam-packed with stacks of denim.
Denim enthusiasts of all ages and from all walks of life took part in Fade February; tallying about 25 strong in-store for the final showdown. As opposed to other contests that restrict length of wear, denim brand/model worn, etc. dutil.‘s Fade Friday doesn’t impose any criteria on participants whatsoever. The entry instructions are dead simple: pit your faded raw denim against those from other wearers and you could walk away with a fresh, new pair of raw denim (from Rogue Territory, Baldwin Denim, or Naked & Famous).
See below for a re-cap of the winners from both stores and be sure to hop over to dutil.‘s website for more information on their store.
