Combing

What does Combing mean?

An industrial yarn preparation process where fibres are combed to make them parallel in the sliver and short fibres are taken out.

Heddels explains Combing

Combing is performed on fibers after they have been “carded” – a process that separates and untangles the fibers. It employs a fine-toothed comb to ensure that all the individual fibers are lying straight and parallel to one another.

Combing is a labor-intensive process and is performed while the fibers are being spun into yarn.
