At this point, the denim Western Shirt has become a great alternative to the work shirt or oxford in the button-down department. But even though it’s not the first chair in the hierarchy of long-sleeve-ers, when they do turn up, they are often pretty similar to their non-Western counterparts in terms of fabric. This murdered-out rendition of the Japanese brand’s Cody Shirt is made from a double black 6.5 oz denim. This stealthy material utilizes black warp and weft threads for a refreshing update to the classic design, and of course, invites the possibility of some exciting fades and wear patterns down the road.
But this isn’t the only risk gone right. In addition to its snap front and western yoke, this shirt’s subtle focal point is the accentuated chest pockets featuring double snap closures. Perfect with a pair of khakis or blue jeans, this blacked-out Cody also provides a rare opportunity for the Canadian Tuxedo: After Dark Edition when paired with some black jeans. But with great power comes great responsibility, so be warned.
