Don’t worry, folks. The world may have ground to a halt for reasons we all know, but the fades are still coming in thick and fast, providing a welcome distraction from all this chaos. For this edition of Fade Friday, we’re featuring Todd Hallowell’s SOSO 33 oz. jeans – the heaviest denims on the market.
Known as the “breaker of legs” these jeans are roughly 2.5 – 3 times heavier than your standard pair of raw jeans, so just wearing them out for a day is an achievement in itself! But in the past 8 months, Todd has worn these jeans almost every day as he painstakingly competes in the 2019 Indigo Invitational 2019 fade competition, forming a solid wear pattern on the way.
Having only worn them for two-thirds of a year, Mr. Hallowell’s results show some serious denim-dedication. The indigo is brightening up all over — helped along by 2 soaks and 2 washes — while maintaining a dark overcast that reminds you there is plenty of indigo left to chip away. The fade lines are shorter and thicker than what you could get from a lighter pair of jeans, with a smokey, mysterious quality that can’t be replicated unless you run through this indigo-dyed gauntlet like this brave man.
