4 Pairs of Lightweight Raw Denim for Summer

It’s that time of the year when temperatures are starting to rise, which also means it’s time for us at Heddels to run down a list of some lightweight raw denim that won’t cause you to swelter this summer. While some diehards put up with heavyweight denim 12 months a year, others aren’t necessarily as dedicated (or, masochists).

More and more denim brands have started selling lighter options to reach customers looking to diversify, so here’s a small list to get your spring/summer shopping going.

Sugarcane SC 2013 11oz Summertime Jean

Although not a new release, Sugar Cane‘s SC 2013 Summertime Jean weighs in at a light 11oz. The one-washed unsanforized selvedge is made from a combination of American and Zimbabwe cotton fibers that won’t shrink. Sure to have a unique feel, this pair comes in a slightly-fitted straight leg cut.

This pair is available for $210 at Self Edge.

Rogue Territory 11oz Stealth Stanton Jean

Rogue Territory‘s Stanton Jean is one of their most popular fits, as is their Stealth line of raw sulfur-dyed black warp and black weft denim. This 11oz version features Japanese red-line selvedge from Nihon Menpu Mills in Okayama. The 2×1 weave used in this pair of jeans means it’s more breathable, lighter, and takes a lot less time to break in. The Stanton slim-straight, mid-rise fit is a classic one that should look clean on summer nights.

This pair is available for $220 at Rogue Territory.

3sixteen SL-101x Lightweight Selvedge Jean

3sixteen needs no introduction, and neither does their well-known SL cut, which is billed as a modern slim straight with a slight taper below the knee. Similar to the Sugar Cane option, the 12oz Okayama selvedge used in this pair has been washed once and tumbled to give it a softer hand and easier break-in. Per usual for the brand, the pair is made in the USA and features a thick Tanner Goods leather patch.

This pair is available for $220 at 3sixteen.

Naked & Famous Weird Guy Featherweight Selvedge Jean

Canadian raw denim superstars Naked & Famous are famous for their prolific adventures into the land of bizarre raw denim, so it shouldn’t be surprising that they wouldn’t hesitate into the lightweight category. The Featherweight suits its name by clocking in at a barely-there 5oz.

The brand bills it as quite-possibly the lightest selvedge denim in the world, and that just might be accurate. If you’re deathly afraid of wearing jeans in the heat, or if you live in a tropical climate, these jeans might be worth the investment.

This pair is available for $145 at Tate & Yoko.
