File the Knickerbocker MFG. Co. 24oz. Melton Wool Peg coat under ‘contemporary take on a classic.’ And yes, I know, it’s a hefty, file. But this one’s got some things going for it. What exactly? For starters, Knickerbocker kicked off the design process by taking a military barnstormer double-breasted peacoat and making it a single breast.
Once in single-breasted form, they then reduced the thick shawl collar to allow for the right proportions and tuned the trimmings to get the details down: 24oz. melton wool, vintage hunting buttons, a 9oz. brushed bull-denim pocket lining, front flap pockets and hand warmer chest pockets.
Throw in some reputable manufacturing choices, like felled-seam construction, a fit tailored for layering, and a made-in-NYC pedigree and you have a real nice contemporary classic.
