Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” And in that same vein, it’s not always about the end goal of fades—sometimes the repairs are where the real story is hiding. Today’s Fade of the Day is a pair of Nudie Jeans Thin Finn Dry Cold Black’s, which come to us from Apharik Kurniawan, of Indonesia.
Alpharik has only been wearing these for a year and a half, but they’ve already lived quite a life. He wears them while he plays S.K.A.T.E and around campus, and by the look of it, he’s skating against a thorn bush and his campus is full of hungry tigers.
Jokes aside, these Nudies are a sight to see. There are more than a dozen repairs and counting, and Apharik has used a few different pattern types as patches, which is giving them a unique and personalized look. In terms of fades, there’s tell-tale honeycombing and some pronounced whiskering in the lap, plus some more around the knee. The seat’s taken the most abuse, where the fading has taken on a dirty hue and the patches are stacking on top one another. A little less sliding out on those switch tre-flips might help prevent more repairs, but the attempt is often better than the make right?
