A Vontade’s Natural Stripe Henley Rounds the Bases for a Cool Summer Shirt

As we gear up for a sweaty summer, A Vontade‘s Natural Stripe Henley Shirt is on the shortlist for coolest shirts, figuratively and literally. Not only does this piece check a lot of boxes, but I have a hunch that the Heddels staff wouldn’t mind donning these for a game of stick ball.

While this made-in-Japan, striped cotton/linen blend chambray shirt has the three wooden-button placket, crew neck, and pop-over design one would associate with a henley, it’s the stripes, wider body, and slightly longer tail that also give it the vibe of a vintage baseball jersey. Adding to those ideal details are a drop shoulder and a half-length sleeve—hallmarks of the ’90s—which are oh so on trend right now. Rounding third, it also displays a concerted design choice that you don’t see very often: a single center-back rear pleat at the shoulder. This could be a game changer for the guy looking for a simple-yet-special, non-Aloha shirt to rely on all summer long.
