Since 2009 Velva Sheen has been reinvigorated with the injection of a Japanese design ethos and good ole’ American production in sunny Los Angeles. Originally hailing from Cincinnati and founded in 1932, the brand fell upon hard times in the ’90s and ceased to operate. Fast forward 20 years and Velva Sheen is well and truly back in the race.

Combining heritage know-how, great fits, and desirable colors, the brand continues to go from strength to strength. Here we’ve got the Wider Border Tee in white and navy, which features a classic nautical stripe pattern and single chest pocket. Perfect for setting sail or starring in the next Wes Anderson movie. Lacking side seams and made using circular knitting machines, it’s 100% cotton jersey and made in the USA. Can’t say fairer than that.
