Cone Denim Announces Plan For Antimicrobial Denim

Global denim leader Cone Denim of Greensboro, NC is preparing to launch its newest innovation—the Self-Clean Jean. As the name suggests, the goal of these jeans is to smell less, which will lead to less washing, and ultimately, a smaller environmental footprint.

To achieve this, Cone has partnered with Noble Biomaterials, the global leader in antimicrobial and conductivity solutions for soft-surface applications, to develop a new denim fabric. Featuring Noble’s Ionic+ technology, the fabric utilizes the power of positive ions embedded in yarn fibers to inhibit the growth of bacteria and microbes and thus achieves less smelly jeans.  The fabric is designed to last the lifetime of the jeans thanks to silver ions which are permanently incorporated within their fibers.

The fabric weighs in at 10.6 ounces, has 44% stretch, and is dyed using Cone Denim’s Distilled Indigo shades which offers additional water, energy, and chemical savings.

Cone Denim is launching the Self Clean Jean in their Spring/ Summer ’22 collection which debuts next week during the Kingpins Amsterdam virtual trade show.
