Left Field Skull Head Sock Review

This piece is a part of our Great White Sock Review, which runs down all the different white cotton socks we could get our hands on.

If you could reach all the way back in your sock drawer to the year 1974, you might dig out a pair of Left Field’s tube socks. A total throwback, these have all the trappings of a vintage athletic sock.

Fit

Left Field’s pattern is a little tight around the calves and the toe seam ends up a little bulky but they otherwise fit the foot well without binding.

Fabric

There’s no specification of fiber content on these, I’m guessing cotton and elastane, but it’s thick and plush with soft terry loops on the inside. The exterior of the sock is a little slick, even after several washings though, that made it a little slippery on the leather insoles of the shoes I wore while testing. This is explicitly an athletic sock, however, made for sneakers so I’ll let it pass.

Construction

They nailed the details and the knit, just take a look at that patterned in LF skull.

Conclusion

If you’re on the hunt for a very specific vibe of tube sock, nobody does it better than LF. One of their sock colorways is literally “socks you might have worn while smoking a bowl in the back of an airbrushed van,” how can you object to that?
