Everyone likes a good leather jacket, unfortunately most of them can’t hold up to those cold winter days. But there is an answer! Shearling lined leather jackets give you the warmth you need when it’s frigid while still building a patina with each and every wear. While the combination of wool and the sheepskin that grew it don’t come cheap, we’ve done our best to capture a wide range of price points.
1) Military Surplus: B-3 Shearling Flight Jacket
This Military Surplus B-3 Shearling Flight Jacket might not be cheap, but it’s just about the cheapest shearling leather jacket available without shopping on the secondary market. It is an accurate recreation of the classic B-3 jacket with its 100% shearling exterior, oversized collar with double buckle closure, and buckled waistband.

2) Cromford Leather Co: Shearling Flight Bomber Jacket
Cromford Leather Co’s Shearling Flight Bomber Jacket has all the warmth of shearling while maintaining a sleeker aesthetic than most shearling jackets on the market. With a slightly slimmer body, single buckled collar, straight cut hem and cuffs, and no waist adjustment, this jacket is about as minimalist as a shearling jacket can get. It comes with a medium brown exterior and black shearling liner, which helps to further differentiate it from the rest of the jackets out there.

3) Schott NYC: Classic B-3 Sheepskin Leather Bomber Jacket
Schott NYC makes some of the best, entry level leather jackets out there, shearling included. Their Classic B-3 Sheepskin Leather Bomber is another great option if you want a classic B-3 jacket. It’s designed with a double-buckle oversized collar, exposed shearling at the cuffs and hem, and waist buckles. Available in several colorways and a wide range of sizes, ensuring you can get the fit/color combo you want.

4) James Grose: Shearling “Lunch” Jacket
James Grose’s Shearling Lunch Jacket is another good pick if you’re looking for a shearling jacket without all the fuss. It comes with a gold sheepskin and tan wool, and features a tight hem at the waist and cuffs to keep the lines despite the shearling. It features an oversized collar without any closure mechanism, and two front hand pockets to keep your hands warm regardless of what the weather throws at you.

If you are more of a double-rider guy when it comes to leather jackets but still want the warmth of shearling then Falcon Garments‘ DR Shearling might be right up your alley. Made from black shearling with an asymmetric double-buckled collar, plenty of pockets, and exposed shearling details, this is the ultimate in warm leather jackets.

Plus One – The Real McCoys: Type B-3
For high-end vintage inspired garments, many of us go to The Real McCoys, so it should surprise no one that they make a fantastic shearling jacket. It’s made in Japan from sheepskin with veg-tanned horsehide details, 1940s style Talon zippers, a single front pocket, and trimmed off epaulets. While not cheap this jacket is made from the best materials to the highest quality standards, and that will show as it gets better with age.
