Eric Kvatek Creates ‘Hippie Baseball’ Teams For Latest Kapital Kountry Shoot

Kapital Kountry garments look so good, that it takes an expert to create a photoshoot that does them justice. Luckily, Kountry’s  Kiro Hirata enlists one of the best in the biz to piece together gorgeous shoots and concepts each year – Eric Kvatek. This time ’round, Hirata tasked Kvatek with fleshing out the concept of ‘hippie baseball’, which has turned out in typical Kountry fashion – wild, left field, but completely charming.

Shot in Los Angeles, the entire cast was found in and around the area, from skaters of Venice Beach SkatePark to members of the local vintage collectors scene. While the baseball theme is clear, where Kvatek’s direction shines through is in the playful ruckus he insighted to put his twist on the shoot:

“There was one baseball phrase stuck in my mind “Clear the benches”, so after some instructions to the “players”, I initiated a full-on baseball rumble. It was successful enough that the police were called but after explaining it was a photoshoot we were left alone to carry on with our mayhem.” – Kvatek

Amongst this gorgeous visual barrage, you’ll find a glorious array of traditional yet modern silhouettes with familiar Kapital-esque themes such as rugged fabrics emblazoned with familiar motifs and lighthearted slogans, acute attention to detail and craftsmanship, and a range of garments for every eventuality if you were ever to find yourself in this situation. Standouts for me as of course the Baseball top, specifically the faded indigo, the patchwork parka, and those killer skeleton socks.
