Samurai’s Asagi Sashiko Workshirt Commands Attention

Ahem, this is a public service announcement: can all denimheads in the vicinity report to Corlection immediately, please? Samurai‘s Indigo Asagi Sashiko Shirt has landed and it’s an instant classic.

Made in Japan, Samurai’s Indigo Asagi Sashiko shirt is made up in an archetypal long-sleeved work shirt pattern featuring urea buttons, a reinforced lining at the collar, cuffs and placket, dual chest pockets, gusseted side seams with chain stitch run-off, and a yarn-dyed ‘asagi’ indigo fabric that is to die for.

This light blue fabric is accentuated beautifully by the white sashiko detailing throughout, giving it a unique, three dimensional feel that’ll have heads swivelling. If you’re not familiar with sashiko, it’s essentially a type of traditional Japanese embroidery used for the decorative and/or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing. It’s worth noting that the natural indigo fabric has been Kase dyed by hand, so there might be some slight unevenness from a colour perspective in a couple of places. But look at it this way, that means every piece is unique, something that’s pretty hard to claim nowadays.

If you’re a relatively minimal dresser but you’re still looking for that standout, attention-grabbing piece, look no further. Alternatively, if you regularly dress with flair and want to add to the collection, this might be the piece for you.
