One More On – June 2023

Welcome to One More On, a monthly styled series. “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off.” Thanks but no thanks, Coco Chanel. This series will bring our readers an outfit chock-full of long-lasting basics that you could wear day in and out without attracting much attention, with one more cherry-on-top piece that colors outside the lines a bit. Think of our Five Plus One series, but for fits.

Ah, June. A month in which we engage in epic battles against mosquitoes, armed with an arsenal of bug spray and flailing limbs that could rival any interpretive dance. A month punctuated with perpetual sneezing, streaming noses, and agonizingly itchy eyes as allergies come into bloom. A month that officially grants permission for flip-flops to escape from the depths of our closets, often accompanied by their trusty partner in crime, sunscreen.

Summer is officially here, ladies and gentlemen; at least for those of us that reside within the Northern Hemisphere. And with that, some fresh garb to keep you looking and feeling cool in the summer heat.

Gitman Short Sleeve Seersucker Shirt

One-More-On---June-2023-Gitman-Short-Sleeve-Seersucker-Shirt

We’ve featured seersucker shirts a fair bit over recent months, and for good reason. It’s, undoubtedly a summer fabric, so it was only fitting to include Gitman‘s short sleeve seersucker shirt in June’s edition of One More On

Made in the U.S.A. from 100% cotton, the shirt features a button-down collar, chest pocket, chalk buttons, a rear box pleat and locker loop, and a contrast stitched bottom button hole. Not only will this shirt keep you cool as temperatures start to ramp up, it also makes for an excellent foundation for our June fit. You legitimately can’t go wrong with a white shirt.

Available for $250 from Lost & Found.

orSlow US Army Fatigue Shorts

One-More-On---June-2023-Orslow-US-Army-Fatigue-Shorts-in-army-green

It’s shorts season, but it’s not quite short-shorts season just yet. Listen, I’d love to prance around in a pair of brightly colored five-inch Patagonia baggies, but we need to ease ourselves in. My legs haven’t seen the sunlight in the best part of a year. orSlow’s US Army Fatigue shorts are the perfect compromise, hitting just above or on the knee, depending on how tall you are.

Made from a midweight, robust cotton reverse sateen, the shorts feature a button fly, patch pockets with button flap on the rear, patch pockets on the front, as well as adjustable side tabs and belt loops on the waistband. The loose-fitting design with a straight leg provides exceptional comfort while still appearing well-tailored, and the generous front and back OG107 pockets offer ample storage for your belongings while you’re out and about.

Available for $205 from Brooklyn Tailors.

Yuketen Moc Ischia GoRain Loafers

One-More-On---June-2023-Yuketen-Moc-Ischia-GoRain-Loafers

Move the f*ck over, Gucci. Yuketen is in town and it is here to stay. Inspired by the allure of the Mediterranean island Ischia, Yuketen presents its own version of the timeless Italian bit loafer with the Moc Ischia.

Every single pair of these loafers are meticulously handcrafted in Italy, using carefully chosen cuts of full-grain flesh-out leather sourced from Opera Leather in Tuscany, a family-owned tannery renowned for its expertise in producing exceptional flesh-out leather and suede.

The Moc Ischia features leather soles that are firmly attached to the upper with a Mckay stitch, a technique that is elegantly concealed beneath a polished layer of vegetable-tanned leather. To complete the sole, leather stacked heels with rubber keys are directly nailed on, ensuring durability and practicality.

Loafers are the unsung heroes of summer footwear, pairing well with practically every trouser and short out there and adding a sprig of Ivy to your outfits. We recommend wearing no-show socks at the least with these puppies. Going sockless always seems like a good idea, until your feet start getting hella sweaty and tearing up the inside of your shoes. Alternatively, channel your inner Tyler the Creator and wack on a pair of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz-inspired ankle-length white socks. It’s ballsy, but if you’ve got the confidence to rock it, do it.

Available for $585 from Clutch Cafe.

Randolph Engineering P3 Sunglasses

One-More-On---June-2023-One-More-On---Randolph-Engineering-P3-Sunglasses

Now the sun’s out, it’s socially acceptable to wear sunglasses. Because Heddels readers aren’t the types of people to wear sunglasses indoors or when it’s dark outside, right? Right.

Randolph Engineering’s P3 sunglasses are a playful take on military heritage. Handcrafted in Massachusetts, this pair of sunglasses have been built to the same rigid military-spec standards as those produced for the navy back in the day. They feature jewelry-quality finishes with durability coating to prevent scratches, 100% UVA/UVB protection, mineral crown glass lenses, and adjustable cushioned silicone nose pads for a customized fit.

They’re also guaranteed for life against manufacturer defects, which is always nice to see, considering these are the type of sunglasses that you will want to throw on every day.

Available for $249 from Stag Provisions.

One More On – Chamula Blanket Tote Bag Greca Antigua

One-More-On---June-2023-Chamula-Blanket-Tote-Bag-Greca-Antigua

The fit has been relatively simple so far, and that’s for good reason. I’m a firm believer in letting statement pieces do all the talking, and my statement pick for this fit is Chamula’s Greca Antigua Blanket tote bag. You might have a plain-colored daily bag, but it’s a nuanced bag like this that can add that right level of spice to a fit without being garish.

Hand-crafted by skilled artisans in Mexico, Chamula’s knitted tote bags are made using the finest merino wool in all the land. The merino yarn is spun using small hand-built spinning wheels, and the vibrant colors are achieved through meticulous hand-dyeing techniques. As a result, each product becomes a one-of-a-kind creation, radiating its own distinct charm.

This’ll get heads swiveling and will look great against an otherwise relatively muted fit, and the end-tier quality offered by Chamula will ensure this piece will be handed down for generations after you’ve used it for your lifetime.

Available for $610 from Clutch Cafe.
