Burgus Plus’ Lot. 401Z Serge Trousers are the trouser equivalent of the Nokia 3310: totally unbreakable.
The pants are made from a 15 oz. cotton serge fabric, which is most commonly associated with workwear. Why? Because it’s durable as all hell. Cotton serge is a type of fabric characterized by its diagonal, or twill, weave pattern. It is made primarily from cotton fibers, which are spun into yarns and woven together to create the fabric. The diagonal pattern is formed by the way the yarns interlace, with one yarn passing over two or more yarns before going under one. This weaving technique gives cotton serge its distinctive appearance.
In this case, a smoky-black dyed yarn has been twisted together with a white nep yarn, resulting in a fabric that looks like the lovechild of a donegal tweed sweater and a flannel suit. Basically, if Carhartt made a corporate workwear range in Japan, these pants would feature front and center. All we need now is for Burgus Plus to chuck a wide lapel on a Detroit jacket and you’ve got yourself a full serge suit.
Fabric aside, the details on these pants are top notch. The pants feature urea buttons, a Burgus Plus original fastener that’s been marking pin engraved with a sakura blossom, smart jetted pockets, and a vintage-inspired maximalist tag on the rear.
If you’re in need of some pants for work and you can’t wear jeans, these are a no-brainer.
