Samurai Farmed the Cotton for Its SJLT-SC01 Longsleeves Themselves

Chances are good you read Heddels to uncover hidden gems from our niche of fashion, including top-tier quality-made goods from Japan, and the secret is out – these are it. You can own a piece of Japanese denim history with Samurai-grown cotton goods, now available in the form of an array of organic earth-toned hues that Sammy went ahead and carefully dyed using traditional Japanese dyes.

Samurai did the work on these SJLT-SC01 Japanese Cotton Crew Long Sleeve T-Shirts. No, really. They grew the organic cotton on their cotton farm in Japan. We’ve seen Samurai churn out more and more products featuring their own-grown fluffy and textured cotton over the last few years now, and we love seeing the line expand into more basics that anyone would love to own, much like these longsleeves. Samurai employees hand-pick the cotton during the summer months, the cotton is in turn woven at Samurai’s knitting factory, and then the fabric is sewn up with the same quality and care as all of Samurai’s other basics.

The Samurai Cotton Project is a growing (no pun intended) enterprise of products that feature a personal, pastoral touch from Samurai, unlike any brand we’ve covered before. Eliminating the middle-man that is the cotton supplier, and paying homage to the history of cotton in Japan, Samurai is making something truly representative of their brand. The diligence and care for their product from seed to branding is something never before seen in our bubble of fashion. All sewn up using vintage sewing machines and techniques, these slubby with specs of organic cotton matter long sleeves feature triple needle stitching, ribbed cuffs and collar, all cotton threads, flat seams, and a slightly slim (AKA non-boxy), slightly longer silhouette.
