Billykirk Sews Up its No. 397 Slim Card Case in a Gorgeous Verdant Green

Billykirk is a bags and accessories company headquartered in Jersey City, NJ. Founded by two brothers inspired by the craftsmanship of an early twentieth-century watch band and US military surplus goods from both World Wars, every detail remains as close as possible to the way things were made a century ago. All manufacturing and sourcing is done in the United States, with most production done by Amish craftsmen in Pennsylvania.

The No. 397 Slim Card Case sticks to a simple design for maximum durability. Essentially, it is one piece of leather folded over and another piece of folded leather like a book. Each side creates a stack of four sheets of leather held together with the same kind of waxed cord stitching you see in a boot welt. It is the quality of the materials, just two total — combined with the simple but effective construction — that make this wallet damn near indestructible.

The leather deployed is full-grain vegetable-tanned. The folded end will just get tougher with age and in the unlikely event that the stitching pops open, any cobbler worth a damn can close it right back up for you. There are eight colors to choose from, each of which will marble and darken with age, but this verdant green has really caught our eye, sticking out beautifully in a world of black, brown, and natural leather goods.

Available for $85 from Billykirk.
