2020 has already been a big year for 3sixteen. In the early days of this new year, they’ve collaborated with Schott, totally revamped their branding, and are now dropping their Spring/Summer season.
Moving away from crunchy, starchy workwear fabrics, this season, 3s is channeling the spirit of their hard-wearing brand into newer, innovative fabrics that feel great and breathe better. Spring/Summer can often feel like a bit of a dead period for our favorite denim-based brands, but 3sixteen has worked hard to develop new fabrics and silhouettes to bring the high-quality, durable spirit of the brand to a breezier time of year.
Look no further than their new 5×5 denim, used in the brand-new, modernized Type 1 jacket. This fabric has all the depth and fade potential of a traditional raw denim, but starts out far less stiff and only gets better with time.
Linen shirting provides yet another way to stay comfortable with the eventual patina of a natural fiber and a new double gauze cotton that ages like heavy army surplus twills further exemplifies this clever fabric development.
New pieces, like a slimmed down Cargo Pant and the aforementioned double indigo Type 1 are joined by a number of older fan favorites like the brand’s fatigue overshirts and baseball shirts. I also have it on good authority that the CS jean (a criminally slept-on straight leg cut) is being revived.
