Fade Friday – Pure Blue Japan XX-011 (2.5 Years, 15 Washes, Unknown Soaks)

Do you hear that in the distance? Is that Kenichi Iwaya, founder and owner of Pure Blue Japan, clapping in approval after somehow seeing what this pair of PBJ XX-011 jeans look like after 2.5 years of wear? Maybe.

Danny Jankiewicz has worn these PBJs everywhere throughout their tenure, including his day job. He states that most of the physical activity in these jeans came from walking around Chicago, Illinois, which has seen them mold to his stride and fade into a shimmering palette of sky blue and white

The fades, guided by 15 washes and countless soaks, really are eye-catching. Nothing over the top or flashy, just an authentic wear pattern with some solid creasing. The front side of the jeans has strong brushstrokes of chalky white from the upper thigh down to the knee, which lets the whiskers and other creases do their thing. On the flip side, you are gonna find a desert nearly void of indigo until you reach the oasis that is the hypnotic honeycombs behind the knees.

And, just to show off, Danny has sported a perfectly seasoned PBJ hoodie that he’s been fading for the last 5 years in the fit pictures. Just in time to kick your weekend off with some indigo envy.
