Just over one year ago, we featured a pair of Imperial x Self Edge SEXI14s on Fade Friday that were just two months in, but somehow possessed some of the most electrifying contrast patterns we’d seen yet. As we’re nearing the one-year mark of that SEXI14S, we thought it only made sense to exhibit another pair that was also user-submitted via our forum.
Belonging to Singapore-based user, Haikal, this SEXI14S were initially soaked and saw a wallet imprint after just two weeks, followed by incredible knee and honeycomb fades after several more months and two machine washes. Though we can’t back this up with empirical evidence, the hasty wear patterns may be a direct result of not only very heavy wear, but also the added abrasion effect extremely hot and humid weather conditions (Singapore is infamous for their year-round 80°F/28°C temperature and average humidity level of 80%) on the denim’s fibres.
Additionally, we’d be remiss to not recognize some of the SEXI14S‘ attributes as contributing factors too. In Self Edge‘s description, they highlight how the denim fabric’s loose weave and loomstate nature help the denim’s evolution, and the fact that the texture is fairly forgiving due to lack of starch. Combining all of this with the model’s slim-fitting silhouette, it’s certainly much easier to understand how Haikal achieved such remarkable results in a short amount of time.
