The heat and humidity of summer can be brutal. But, one thing it’s good for is producing some equally brutal fades. Bangkok resident Dhanainun Dhanarachwattana donned the slubby 17 oz. denim for a mere 8 months and has already achieved Fade Friday status.
You would think that 3 washes and 3 soaks in that short time span would produce a super light shade of denim with nominal contrast. Clearly, these Red Cloud R400 jeans dispel that notion and have plenty of contrast from near-white knees to practically untouched hems. Dhanainun has been fairly active in his jeans, too. He’s worn them while cycling, doing field work, working out, partying and everything in between. While the active lifestyle accounts for a lot of the indigo loss, he credits simply living in Bangkok as a huge factor.
These honey combs and whiskers are some of the most contrasty out there, making a great case for not only Red Cloud, but Bangkok. But we also love the subtleties like the texture and streaking of the fabric itself, the puckering fades of the yoke and don’t forget the selvedge tracks. He also gets bonus rarity points for having a pair with the red tab still attached. All of these components have cooked up a worthy Fade Friday. Keep those jeans kicking and keep us updated, Dhanainun.
