Roy Charcoal BBQ Shirt in Japanese Selvedge Chambray

You might have a dedicated apron for your meaty warm-weather pastimes, but chances are, until now, you didn’t have a shirt to go with it. One-man-denim-band Roy Slaper of Roy Denim solves that problem with his short-sleeved chambray Charcoal BBQ Shirt.

The black chambray reads as a smokin’ charcoal grey due to the white weft, and is finished with Japanese cat-eye buttons — made with solid aluminum — and pima cotton thread. Selvedge details abound, including the busted seam that runs up the back of the shirt to yield the beloved jeans-esque train track fades over time, along with small pops of ID at the side gussets, which are (of course) accompanied by chain stitch runoff in a similarly jeansy marigold yellow.

Roy makes each shirt by hand in his Oakland, CA workshop, and he’ll be releasing the smoke plumes of chambray at 11am (Pacific Time) on Thursday March 30. Shirts will be available from roydenim.com.
