Shadow fades don’t come easy, but good things eventually come to those who wait. Aleksandr Malyutin of St. Petersburg, Russia, knew what he was getting into when he bought these 3Sixteen SL-201x Shadows 14 months ago, and the results today are finally making his wearing efforts worth it.
3sixteen’s signature Shadow selvedge denim consists of an indigo warp and black weft, making for one dark and saturated pair of jeans at the start. After over a year of daily wear, Aleksandr is finally breaking through the first layer of dye exposing some of the bright blue below.
The knees and seat are showing the most character right now, and the honeycombs are set in and starting to fade as well. One of the coolest parts of these jeans are the fades appearing at the leg seams, where the fabric bends and rubs the most. The best part is, they’ll only get better from here.
