Samurai’s Ultra Heavy Shirt Uses Herringbone to Make a Plaid

Samurai celebrates it’s 20th anniversary this year, and while all the buzz may be around the special edition jeans made to mark the occasion, they’ve low-key been working on this absolute beast of a shirt. A heavyweight number in every denimhead’s favorite color, the 12oz. Indigo Selvedge Jacquard Chambray Shirt has more weaves than you can shake a samurai sword at.

We’re used to seeing exhibitions of exquisite craftsmanship from Samurai, but this fabric is in a different league. Woven on vintage jacquard looms in Japan, the highly textured selvedge chambray features a charming palette of indigo tones and a complex jacquard weave which alternates the twill back and forth to form a plaid pattern. Coming in a slim silhouette, this whimsical shirt features dual chest pockets, black twill lining at the neck and cuffs, and iron cat eye button closures throughout.

Each piece is built with chainstitched side-gussets, complete with run-offs that expose the contrasting forest-green yarns.

Available for $363AUD (~$275USD) from Corlection.
